The Polish Mutual Benefit & Friendly Society is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Cook to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning menus, preparing and serving meals, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our food services and contributing to the overall success and reputation of our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Plans menus
  • Places orders and maintains inventory.
  • Prepares all meals including cooking and food preparation.
  • Serves meals.
  • Attention to detail and presentation of food.
  • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature control and logs as required; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
  • Stores leftovers according to established standards.
  • Ensures smooth operation of food services.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas.
  • Assists with orienting new employees to their work area.
  • Implements suggestions within the parameter of position.
  • Instructs staff in the use of equipment and cleaning methods and provides efficient and effective methods of maintaining work area.
  • Participates in and/or contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve the quality of service and reputation of the PMBFS.

Experience
  • Experience in both cooking and food preparation working in a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience cooking for large banquets and events.
  • Experience cooking Polish/ European cuisine would be an asset.
  • Current Safe Food Handling certification
  • Familiar with point Cash Registers
